As a trade printer, IBS comes across novel and clever product ideas almost every day. After all, when you’ve been established in the printing industry for 12 years, you’re bound to hear some interesting bits and pieces! Here, we’d like to share with you some of the knowledge we’ve obtained…

Swing Tags
One of our clients was ordering thousands of swing tags for a customer. As they featured a simple design consisting of a name and website address, we were intrigued as to why the quantities were so high. It turned out that their customer was actually an importer, bringing clothing and accessories into Australia from overseas. The swing tags were the perfect marketing tool for the customer’s brand when the products were being stocked in stores around the country. The brand was being consistently presented regardless of where the products were sold, and the website address meant the customer could direct people to find out more about their products. What a simple and yet very effective marketing idea for the importing customer!

  
IN THE KNOW AT IBS
We would like to take this opportunity to introduce Leo, IBS’ new Production Manager. Leo has countless years experience in the printing industry; in fact in his own words, he has “too many to count!” Most recently, he worked at Fast Proof Press for 12.5 years and prior to that he was at WB Colour Scan for 6.5 years as a Colour Planner/Platemaker. Here’s three quick questions and answers for you to find out more about Leo:
Q. What do you think is the most important aspect of printing?
A. Customer service and keeping abreast with technology.

Q. What is your printing experience?
A. I came straight out of school into an apprenticeship in the printing industry with a small commercial print and newspaper company with a job as a typographer in New Zealand. It was based around letterpress with a small offset commercial department. This job description is now mostly obsolete due to technology upgrades. I then attended many courses and upgraded my skills.

Q. Tell us something interesting about yourself.
A. You’ll find out! (Laughing)
